Welcome to Crochet Crazy

The development of this site is underway. (Slowly)
I have a lot of info to add and need to find a feasable way of working on it.

What is crochet?

Crochet is a single hook and wool, cotton, yarn whatever you want can be strips of old plastic bags(!).. You can make many things and there are many many styles. I hope to open your eyes to the simplicity of crochet, and show you that it doesnt have to be ugly and something that granny does, its something you can do, thats productive and fun! There are many styles (standard, tunisian, hairpin, filet) and theres no call for making anything ugly!

Common Myths

  1. Crochet is viewed as a granny hobby, why? everyone pictures that sweet old lady, white haired in a bun by the fire in a rocking chair. It doesnt have to be.
  2. Crochet is viewed as ugly and 70s ish, with a technique known as "granny squares" which are then formed together to make clothes and blankets.. Its not like that either, well it can if you want..
  3. Crochet is viewed as doily making.. I wont and I cant see me ever making any.. so.
  4. Crochet is for girls.. Why? you guys not able to hold something in one hand and hold something in the other (hehe)

Crochet vs Knitting

The crochet vs knitting debate is a little like a religious one, only at least with knitting and crochet you can do both without usually offending the other. Each has different results, some mimic that of the other, however, because knitting is worked as a keep loops on a needle method, even the nearest equivelent of crochet which would be tunisian, doesnt result in the same, however, while knitting has been easily replicated by machinery, the multi facetted joys of crochet has not.

Now, all I need to do is build the site for you to see.. Keep coming back and see my progress.
